Service Overview

Yard Waste weekly collection is included in your service rates. The season lasts from the first full week of April until the last full week of November. Yard Waste green bins are collected by dedicated side load trucks. Unfortunately, we are unable to add this service to all areas of the City due to safety reasons.

Yard Waste Collection Guidelines

Please have your yard waste bin out by am on your collection day. Green bins are not to be stored on the street. You may put them out the night before your collection day, please remove them from the street after collection has been made. Make sure you place your container 4 ft. away from any obstructions or other containers.

Billings Code 21-205 requires the following for branch yard waste collection:
  • Limit all pieces to 4 feet in length and 6 inches in diameter.
  • Tie pieces in bundles and limit bundles to 75 pounds in weight and 2 feet in diameter.
  • Please call 406-657-8315 option #3 to schedule collection of large branches. 

Fall Leaf Guidelines

Community shared leaf collection sites are made available every fall for leaves that do not fit into the yard waste green bins. Previous leaf collection sites include Pioneer Park, Mayflower Congregational Church, Castle Rock Park, Clevenger Park, Veterans Park, Dehler Park, Poly Vista Park, and Amend Park. Please do not rake leaves into streets. Leaf burning is prohibited within the Billings city limits.

Lawn Services 

If a lawn service is utilized at your residence, the business is required to haul off the yard waste generated.
